One of the important missions of the group is to they are not only provide the Chinese music performance, but they want to educate America’s young childrens with the knowledge of Chinese musical culture. Also, they want to pass on their instrument skills to our next generation childrens.

Under the leadership of Wu Peter Tang, the group has been currently contracted with the Philadelphia School District for its Chinese music teaching program for Kirkbride School, McCall School and Key School in South Philadelphia areas for 4 years since 2005. The group has been helping the above 3 schools to build up their own Student’s Chinese music group. The 3 Schools’ students have been learning the instrument of Erhu(Chinese violin), Yangqin(Chinese hammer ducilmer), Guzheng(Chinese zither) and percussions. The 3 Schools of students have been performing their own Chinese music recital during the Holidays and Chinese New Year Celebrations for the parents and communities.

Peter Tangs Chinese Music Ensemble also provides Chinese Music Education Workshops to different Schools in the areas through the Organization called Musicopia, which is the organization for music education in the Delaware Valley Tri-state areas.

Under the support of the School District of Philadelphia, Peter Tang’s Chinese Ensemble has successfully held the Childrent’s Chinese Music Summer Camp in Philadelphia Chinatown for the Years of 2006 to 2009.
